Structural Features Narrow rectangular DIN-rail mount housing. Front panel houses dual BNC electrical ports and duplex ST fiber ports. LED array shows power, optical transmit and receive status. Internal isolation barrier separates electrical and optical circuit areas. Cable gland for power wiring entry.
Working Principle Local LCN electrical signals arrive via the BNC interface. The on-board electrical-to-optical converter converts electrical signals to 1310 nm optical signals, transmitted over the fiber cable to the paired remote converter. The remote unit converts optical signals back to electrical LCN signals for the distant network segment. Reverse data transmission follows the same bidirectional path. Optical power monitoring circuit continuously measures received signal strength; excessive attenuation or fiber breakage triggers a fault alarm.
Installation Requirements Clip the converter to the cabinet DIN rail. Connect local LCN network coax cables to the BNC ports. Cross-connect fiber cables: local transmit connects to remote receive. Apply 24 V DC supply, check optical link LEDs show normal lock.
Usage Notes Fiber bend radius must be ≥5 cm; tight kinks break the fiber core. Never look directly into active fiber end faces; laser light causes eye injury. Fiber connector end faces must be cleaned regularly; oil and dust cause signal loss. Ground loop faults between network segments are blocked by the optical isolation barrier.
