Material Composition ABS flame-retardant housing Ethernet PHY chip RS485 isolation transceiver RJ45 and RS485 connectors Gold-plated backplane connector DIN rail mounting clip

Structural Features Narrow rectangular DIN-rail mount housing. Front panel houses RJ45 Ethernet port and RS485 screw terminals. LED array shows link and communication activity status. Side expansion bus connector mates to adjacent HC900 modules. Integral DIN rail locking clip.

Working Principle The module receives process data from the HC900 CPU over the expansion backplane. Data is packaged into Modbus TCP frames for transmission over the Ethernet port to upper SCADA systems. Inbound Modbus commands from serial devices arrive over the RS485 port, converted and forwarded to the CPU for execution. Isolation circuits block ground loop voltage between the serial network and controller backplane. LEDs indicate link connection and data activity on both ports.

Installation Requirements Clip the module to the DIN rail next to the CPU. Connect expansion bus connector between modules. Plant Ethernet cable to the RJ45 port, devices to the serial terminals. Assign IP address and Modbus parameters in HC900 programming software. Verify network communication from the engineering laptop after power-up.

Usage Notes Install 120 Ω termination resistor at the far end of the bus. A/B wiring must not be reversed, reversed wiring causes total communication failure. IP address must not conflict with other devices on the plant network. Route communication cables separately from high-voltage power trays.
