Structural Features Compact C300 low-density I/O form factor. Front detachable terminal block for 16 channel wiring. Group isolation barrier between field side and backplane. Per-channel input state LEDs.
Working Principle Field switch contacts connect to input terminals. Optocouplers isolate field signals, converting contact state to logic level for sampling. Debounce filtering removes mechanical contact bounce. Sampled channel states are packaged into bus frames, transmitted to the C300 controller. Open wire detection monitors loop continuity; broken switch wiring triggers a channel fault flag.
Installation Requirements Insert the card into a dedicated low-density digital input slot. Wire field switches to labeled terminals. Configure debounce time per channel in Control Builder. Verify channel state operation during commissioning.
Usage Notes Never apply AC high voltage to input terminals, this destroys optocoupler isolators. Debounce time set too short causes unstable reading for aging switches. Long field cable runs require shielded cable to reduce EMI noise. Terminal blocks must be fully locked; loose connections cause intermittent channel dropout.
