Material Composition Nickel plated brass cylindrical housing High purity quartz viewing window UV sensitive gas discharge tube High temperature FEP insulated lead wire Fluoro rubber sealing O-ring Metal mounting collar
Structural Features Small cylindrical body with front quartz window. Integral mounting collar with 1/2 NPSM internal thread. Two color coded lead wires extend from rear end. O-ring seal between collar and sight pipe. No internal user serviceable parts. Compact outline allows installation into narrow blast tube.
Working Principle UV radiation from combustion flame passes through quartz window and enters UV discharge tube. UV photon ionizes gas inside tube and generates pulse electrical signal. The signal transmits through lead wire to external flame amplifier. Amplifier converts pulse signal into flame on/off state and sends signal to burner safeguard controller. When flame disappears, UV pulse signal stops, controller triggers fuel shut-off interlock.
Installation Requirements Screw the mounting collar onto 1/2 inch sight pipe, align window to flame. Tighten collar and confirm O-ring seal. Route lead wire to matched Honeywell flame amplifier terminals. Keep lead wire away from high temperature surface and power cable. Verify flame signal during burner commissioning.
Usage Notes The integrated sensing tube cannot be replaced on site, replace whole sensor when failure occurs. Clean quartz window periodically to remove soot and dust. Do not expose sensor to welding arc UV light, which causes premature tube aging. Do not pull lead wire hard at sensor root. This sensor must be used with Honeywell approved flame amplifier and burner controller.
