Honeywell MIDAS-E-HCL

Product Introduction MIDAS-E-HCL is replaceable electrochemical sensor cartridge for hydrogen chloride gas detection, developed for Honeywell MIDAS sample draw gas monitoring system. It monitors HCl toxic gas concentration in semiconductor, chemical and laboratory environments with measurement range 0-8ppm. It integrates sensing cell, signal circuit and memory chip inside sealed cartridge body. MIDAS host automatically reads calibration data and sensor model information after insertion. It supports continuous sampling detection and provides fault diagnosis for sensor aging and flow path blockage. It is widely used for corrosive process gas leak monitoring in cleanroom and chemical fume hood area.

Material Composition Corrosion resistant PPS plastic cartridge housing Electrochemical hydrogen chloride sensing cell SMT signal conditioning PCB with non-volatile memory chip Precision thermistor for temperature compensation Gold plated contact pins for power and data communication PTFE hydrophobic filter membrane on gas inlet Fluorine rubber sealing O-ring and corrosion resistant flow channel

Structural Features Integrated pluggable cartridge structure compatible with MIDAS side installation slot. Front gas inlet and outlet ports connect with sample draw tubing from monitored area. Rear gold contact pins connect with main transmitter internal circuit. Internal flow channel adopts corrosion resistant material to resist HCl gas erosion. Sealing O-ring isolates sample gas from electronic circuit compartment. Anti-key notch prevents wrong gas cartridge installation.

Working Principle MIDAS internal sampling pump draws air sample into cartridge flow path. Hydrogen chloride gas diffuses into electrochemical sensing cell and produces current signal proportional to gas concentration. Signal conditioning circuit amplifies and compensates raw signal, then converts analog signal into digital value. Memory chip transmits sensor data and calibration information to MIDAS main controller. Host unit judges alarm state and uploads alarm signal to plant monitoring system when concentration exceeds threshold.

Installation Requirements Cut off MIDAS host power before cartridge replacement. Remove old cartridge from side slot. Insert MIDAS-E-HCL cartridge fully until locking position. Restore power and wait for automatic recognition and warm up period. Complete zero calibration in clean fresh air and span calibration with certified HCl standard gas. Inspect sample tubing and fitting for gas leakage after commissioning.

Usage Notes Hydrogen chloride is corrosive toxic gas, all maintenance work must wear proper PPE. Do not expose cartridge to high concentration alkaline vapor or organic solvent which poisons sensing cell. Replace cartridge immediately after service life expires. Prevent liquid condensate from entering internal flow channel. Keep spare cartridge sealed in original packaging and stored in cool dry environment.
