- Working Principle:
The module exchanges cyclic I/O data with configured PROFINET devices using RT/IRT telegrams. Acyclic data (parameterization, diagnostics) uses PROFINET record read/write services. DCP is used during commissioning to assign device names and IP addresses.
- Installation Requirements:
- Insert into designated communication slot of PM8xx CPU or communications extender
- Use Cat 5e/6 shielded Ethernet cable for PROFINET segments
- Assign unique PROFINET device name via ABB Control Builder or DCP tool
- Precautions:
- Do NOT connect to office LAN — PROFINET uses multicast/broadcast that may flood non-industrial switches
- Ensure firmware version compatibility between CI502-PNIO and AC 800M CPU firmware
- Observe proper termination and shielding practice for noise immunity
