Working Principle:
The VE4003S1B2 receives 4–20mA current signals from field transmitters through its input channels. The onboard signal conditioning circuitry converts the current loop signals into voltage signals, which are then digitized by the A/D converter. The digital values are transmitted to the DeltaV controller via the system backplane for processing by control algorithms. The module also supports HART digital communication overlay, enabling remote configuration and diagnostics of connected smart transmitters.
Installation Requirements:
- Install in a compatible DeltaV I/O carrier with proper backplane engagement
- Connect field transmitter wiring according to the 2-wire or 4-wire configuration as applicable
- Ensure proper shielding and grounding of analog signal cables
- Maintain ambient temperature within -40°C to +70°C
- Verify channel configuration matches the connected transmitter signal type
Usage Precautions:
- Verify signal type and range compatibility before connecting field devices
- Use shielded twisted-pair cables for analog signal wiring
- Ground cable shields at one end only to prevent ground loops
- Perform periodic calibration to maintain measurement accuracy
- Monitor diagnostic indicators for wire break and range violation alarms
- The module contains no user-serviceable parts and shall not be disassembled
