Emerson WH1-2FF

Product Brief Introduction: WH1-2FF is Ovation rack power supply module, providing stable DC operating power for Ovation I/O modules and controller modules installed inside the rack. It converts AC input power from plant cabinet power distribution to regulated low voltage DC power required by Ovation rack backplane. The module includes overvoltage, overcurrent and overheat protection circuits. It supports redundant power supply configuration to improve system availability for critical process control racks.

Structural Characteristics Ovation dedicated power module form factor. Rear gold plated edge connector connects to rack backplane power bus. Front panel has ventilation grille for forced air cooling, LED indicators and power status test point. Internal layout separates high voltage AC input section and low voltage DC output section with isolation barrier. Built-in thermal conductive structure to transfer heat to front panel.

Working Principle AC input power enters WH1-2FF through cabinet wiring. EMI filter eliminates power grid noise. Rectifier circuit converts AC into DC bus voltage. High frequency switching circuit and transformer convert bus voltage into stable low voltage DC output. Output regulation circuit maintains constant DC voltage under load variation. Protection circuit detects overvoltage, overcurrent or overtemperature condition and shuts down power conversion immediately to protect downstream DCS modules. In redundant pair, two power supplies share rack load continuously.

Installation Requirements

  1. Insert WH1-2FF into dedicated power slot of Ovation rack, push fully and lock front fixing screw.
  2. Connect AC power cable to module input terminal. Use dedicated power wire and secure terminal connection.
  3. Configure power redundancy setting in Ovation engineering workstation when installing dual power supplies.
  4. Perform power on test and voltage measurement after wiring before loading I/O modules.
  5. Ensure cabinet protective grounding is reliable, grounding resistance less than 4 ohms.
  6. Keep ventilation grille clean and unblocked, no dust accumulation on cooling path.

Usage Precautions

  1. Do not open module housing. High voltage exists inside enclosure even after power disconnection.
  2. Do not apply AC voltage outside rated input range. Overvoltage destroys power conversion circuit.
  3. Verify power load capacity before adding more I/O modules into rack to avoid overload.
  4. Disconnect AC input before removing module from rack. Hot removal under live AC input is prohibited.
  5. No field repairable components. Replace whole module upon power supply failure.
  6. Prevent metal debris falling into ventilation grille and rack slot.
