Honeywell 51401523-100

Product Introduction This NIM network interface module is the core gateway hardware between LCN local control network and UCN universal control network for Honeywell TDC3000 TPS system. Revision 100 is the standard stable version. It completes protocol conversion, data forwarding and message routing between LCN bus and UCN bus. It transmits controller data, alarm messages, trend data and command signals bidirectionally between LCN nodes and UCN HPM controllers. It realizes unified management and data interaction of the whole TPS distributed control system.

Technical Specifications LCN Bus Rate: 5Mbps UCN Bus Rate: 5Mbps LCN Interface: 50Ω BNC coaxial connector UCN Interface: 50Ω BNC coaxial connector Backplane Interface: NIM rack parallel backplane bus Power Supply: 5V DC Power Consumption: 9.2W Operating Temperature Range: 0℃ to 65℃ Storage Temperature Range: -40℃ to 85℃ Isolation Withstand Voltage: 1500V AC Relative Humidity: 5% to 95%, non-condensing

Functional Features It executes Manchester encoding and decoding for LCN and UCN bus frames. It supports bidirectional message routing and protocol translation between LCN and UCN network. It carries out CRC check for all transmitted and received data frames. It supports hot swap operation in redundant NIM rack configuration. It stores network routing table, communication threshold and fault log data in non-volatile memory. It uploads frame error count, signal attenuation and link break alarm to LCN network diagnostic console. It distributes unified system time synchronization frame from LCN master clock to UCN controllers.

Application Scenarios Data gateway between GUS operator station, HM history module and UCN HPM controllers. Network interconnection for multi-unit TPS systems with multiple UCN control subnets. Replacement and spare stocking for aging NIM interface modules in legacy TPS cabinets. Time synchronization forwarding and alarm message transmission for petrochemical and power plant control systems.

Performance Parameters Message Forwarding Latency: ≤75μs Maximum Supported UCN Node Quantity: 32 HPM nodes Frame Error Log Storage Capacity: 3000 communication fault records Signal Receiving Sensitivity: 10mV peak

Material Composition PCB Substrate: Low-loss high-frequency FR-4 multi-layer board with controlled impedance trace layout Dual-channel codec FPGA chip Bus signal transceiver and impedance matching components Gold-plated BNC coaxial connectors Gold-plated back edge fingers Aluminum alloy front panel with anodized anti-oxidation treatment

Structural Features Standard European pluggable card structure, installed in dedicated NIM slot of NIM rack. Front panel is equipped with run indicator light, LCN link indicator light, UCN link indicator light and fault indicator light. Four groups of BNC connectors are arranged on the side panel for redundant LCN A/B and UCN A/B bus wiring. RF signal area is covered by independent metal shielding cover to isolate digital logic noise. High-speed transceiver chips are equipped with dedicated heat dissipation channels.

Working Principle When receiving data from LCN bus, the module receives analog coaxial signal, completes decoding and CRC verification, converts LCN frame into UCN protocol frame, then forwards data to UCN bus. When receiving command from UCN HPM controller, the module converts UCN message into LCN frame and transmits to LCN bus. The module continuously monitors signal quality of both networks. When frame error rate exceeds threshold or link loss occurs, it triggers local LED alarm and uploads fault event to system diagnostic console. It receives time frame from LCN master clock and broadcasts synchronization signal to all UCN nodes.

Installation Requirements Insert the module vertically into the dedicated NIM slot of NIM rack and tighten fixing screws. Use 50Ω dedicated RF coaxial cables for LCN and UCN bus wiring. Install 50Ω terminal resistors at the physical ends of LCN and UCN trunk buses. Redundant A/B cables shall be laid in separate cable trays. After power on, check link status and error count on the LCN network diagnostic page.

Precautions Release static electricity before plugging the module to protect RF transceiver and FPGA chips. BNC connector oxidation and cable extrusion lead to signal attenuation and intermittent communication dropout. Do not bend coaxial cable with radius smaller than specification limit. Improper terminal resistor installation causes bus reflection and massive frame error. Redundant NIM configuration requires two identical modules for bumpless switchover.
