Structural Features Standard C300 I/O card form factor. Front detachable terminal block for 4 channel wiring. Group isolation barrier between field side and backplane. Front LEDs indicate channel pulse activity. Anti-keying notch for correct slot alignment.

Working Principle Field sensor pulse signals connect to input terminals, routed through optocoupler isolation. The debounce filter removes contact bounce from mechanical switch signals. The FPGA counter counts pulse edges per channel, calculating frequency and accumulated total. Count values are packaged into bus frames, transmitted to the C300 controller. Open circuit detection monitors input loop continuity; broken sensor wiring triggers a channel fault flag.

Installation Requirements Insert the card into a dedicated counter input subrack slot. Wire flow meters and tachometer sensors to labeled terminals. Configure pulse scaling and debounce time in Control Builder. Verify measured frequency matches a reference tachometer during commissioning.

Usage Notes Mechanical contact sensors require sufficient debounce time; too-short debounce causes overcounting. Input pulse frequency must not exceed 1 kHz, higher frequency causes missed count events. Shielded cable for sensor wiring reduces EMI-induced false pulse counts. Never apply AC high voltage to input terminals, this destroys optocoupler inputs.
