Structural Features Standard C300 I/O card form factor. Front detachable terminal block for 2 high-speed channels. Differential trace routing for high-speed encoder signals, matched impedance. Per-channel signal activity LEDs. Isolation barrier separates field side and backplane.

Working Principle High-speed pulse and quadrature encoder signals connect to input terminals. Differential line receivers convert encoder A/B phase signals to logic levels. The FPGA counter decodes quadrature edges, accumulating position and frequency values at 4x resolution. Home position input resets the counter when the reference proximity sensor triggers. Converted count values are transmitted to the C300 controller over the backplane bus. Signal loss detection monitors input continuity; broken encoder wiring triggers a channel fault.

Installation Requirements Insert the card into a dedicated high-speed counter slot. Wire encoders and high-speed sensors to labeled terminals, use shielded differential cable. Configure quadrature mode and pulse scaling in Control Builder. Verify position counts match a reference encoder during commissioning.

Usage Notes High-speed encoder cable length must not exceed 10 meters; longer runs cause signal reflection and count errors. Differential encoder wires must be twisted pair, routed separately from power cables. Never exceed 100 kHz input frequency, oversaturation causes count loss. Home position sensor wiring must be shielded; electrical noise causes false position resets.
