Material Composition FR4 flame retardant PCB substrate Power NPN transistor array Channel isolation optocouplers Current sense resistors TVS protection diodes Gold-plated backplane edge fingers
Structural Features Standard C300 I/O card form factor. Front detachable terminal block for 16 channel output wiring. Isolation barrier separates field output side and backplane side. Per-channel LEDs aligned with terminal positions. Anti-keying notch for correct slot alignment.
Working Principle The C300 controller sends output commands over the subrack bus. On-board logic drives the channel optocoupler, activating the NPN power transistor to pull the field load circuit to ground, energizing the connected load. Current sense resistors monitor per-channel output current; overcurrent triggers automatic current limiting protection and channel fault latch. Readback circuit compares actual output state to command state; deviation triggers a channel fault alarm. On controller stop, outputs default to pre-configured safe state.
Installation Requirements Insert the card into a dedicated digital output subrack slot. Wire field loads to labeled output terminals. Install external fuses per output group at field load distribution. Test channel on/off operation and short circuit protection response during commissioning.
Usage Notes Never exceed 0.5 A per-channel rated current, overload causes transistor overheating and failure. Inductive loads require flyback diodes across coil terminals. Channel fault latch requires field short circuit resolution before software reset. Never connect AC high voltage to output terminals, high voltage destroys power transistors.
