Functional Features Quadrature encoder position counting with direction discrimination; hardware position latch and compare output; pulse/direction generation for point-to-point motion profiles; hardware interrupt notification to D4 CPU on position match; noise filtering for encoder input lines.
Application Scenarios CNC auxiliary positioning axes, rotary indexing table control, web tension measurement encoder capture, parts length measurement automation, small stepper motor positioning systems.
Material Composition Flame-retardant plastic module housing; high-speed FR4 signal PCB; FPGA pulse generation and counting logic; differential line receiver circuits; gold-plated D4 rack backplane connector; removable screw terminal blocks for encoder and pulse wiring.
Structural Characteristics Rack plug-in module; front panel equipped with channel status LEDs and removable field wiring terminal block; rear edge gold finger mates with D4 rack backplane bus; internal differential signal traces for high-speed encoder signals.
Working Principle Incremental encoder quadrature signals enter the module high-speed counter circuits. FPGA hardware accumulates position count independent of PLC scan time. When the CPU writes target position values, the module generates pulse/direction output waveforms for servo or stepper drives. Position match events trigger hardware interrupt to the D4 CPU.
Installation Requirements Install module in unpowered D4 rack slot; use shielded differential twisted pair for encoder wiring; single-point ground cable shield inside control cabinet; maintain minimum separation between encoder cables and inverter power cables.
Operation Notes Set encoder resolution and count direction parameters before commissioning; verify pulse output polarity after wiring modification; check terminal screw torque in high-vibration machine cabinets.
