- Working Principle:
During normal operation the capacitors are charged to DC-link voltage. When AC input sags, the inverter continues drawing energy from the DC link; the added capacitance slows the DC-link voltage decay, keeping it above the undervoltage trip threshold for the extended period.
- Installation Requirements:
- Must be installed by qualified personnel with drive de-energized and wait ≥5 min for residual charge dissipation
- Verify drive firmware supports CDS option before ordering
- Follow torque specs for busbar connections
- Precautions:
- Capacitors store lethal voltage after power-off — always discharge before handling
- Do NOT install if drive frame/software does not explicitly list CDS compatibility
- Ensure proper ventilation around capacitor bank
