Description
ABB IMDSO14
- Technical Specifications:
- Output Channels: 16 (2 groups × 8 ch)
- Output Type: High-side MOSFET, current sourcing (PNP) — supplies +24 V DC to load
- Rated Output Current: 0.5 A per channel continuous; total per group ≤4 A (thermal limit)
- Output Voltage Range: 12–32 V DC (nominal 24 V DC process supply UP)
- On-State Voltage Drop: <0.5 V @ 0.5 A
- Short-Circuit Protection: Current-limited; auto-recovery when fault removed
- Open-Load Detection: Available on later firmware — flags when load current < threshold with output ON
- Process Voltage Supervision: One sense input per group; module warning if UP absent
- Safe-State (OSP): Configurable per channel — Off / Last / On upon C.W. loss or module fault
- Isolation: Group-to-backplane 500 V DC; channel-to-channel within group common
- Module Power: 5 V DC from backplane (typ. 200 mA)
- Indicators: Module Ready (green), Fault (red), C.W. Active (green), per-group Output Active LED
- Operating Temp.: 0 °C to +60 °C
- Dimensions: Single-slot INFI 90 module
- Functional Features:
- Individual channel status readable by controller (feedback of actual output state)
- Diagnostics: short-circuit, open-load, process voltage loss reported as module alarms
- Supports forced output (from operator console) for commissioning/test
- Compatible with redundant C.W. and hot-swap
- Application Scenarios:
- 24 V DC solenoid valve control (pneumatic / hydraulic actuators)
- Stack light / beacon / annunciator lamp drive
- Interposing relay coil for starting motor contactors or larger AC loads
- Packaging / converting line actuator control via remote I/O rack
- Material & Structure / Working Principle / Installation / Precautions: Same INFI 90 module form factor — plugs into IEMMU21; wire load between output terminal (O0…O15) and 0 V return; connect UP (+24 V) and ZP (0 V) to termination assembly (TA568 or equivalent).
- Precautions:
- Do NOT exceed 0.5 A/channel or group thermal limit — use DO815 (2 A/ch) equivalent or interposing relay for larger 24 V DC loads
- For inductive AC loads (contact coil via interposing relay) fit flyback diode across DC coil or RC snubber across AC contacts
- Verify sourcing (PNP) wiring — load completes circuit to 0 V; NPN sensors are not directly compatible
- Set OSP per process safety requirement — typically “Off on error” for ESD-related outputs
- Precautions:
