Description
ABB IMFEC12
- Technical Specifications (typical 24 V DC version):
- Input Channels: 16 (groups of 8; voltage grade per module — not mixable)
- Input Voltage: 24 V DC (18–30 V), 48 V DC, 110 V DC, 125 V DC, 220 V DC — module-specific (verify label)
- Input Type: Wetting voltage provided internally (for dry contacts) OR external (per version); threshold ON ≥70 % of nominal, OFF ≤30 %
- Time Resolution: 1 ms SOE time stamp (synchronized to controller time base via C.W. bus)
- SOE Buffer: On-module FIFO buffer (typically 256–512 events) retained until read by controller
- Response Time: <5 ms (contact recognition); time stamp accuracy ±1 ms relative to system clock
- Isolation: Group-to-backplane 500 V DC; channel-to-channel common per group
- Module Power: 5 V DC from backplane
- Indicators: Run, Fault, C.W. Active LEDs; per-group Input Active LEDs
- Operating Temp.: 0 °C to +60 °C
- Functional Features:
- Records contact open/close with time stamp — enables reconstruction of alarm/trip sequence
- Compatible with SOE collection software (ABB Command/ INFI 90 SOE viewer)
- Debounce filter configurable (0–127 ms) to reject contact bounce — filter does NOT affect SOE time stamp (first valid edge is time-tagged)
- Reports module/watchdog faults to controller
- Application Scenarios:
- Breaker auxiliary contact monitoring (trip/open/close) in power plant — SOE for disturbance analysis
- E-Stop pushbutton, fire/gas detector contact, turbine trip contact time-stamping
- Process upset analysis — which limit switch opened first before pump trip
- Any application requiring forensic event ordering
- Material & Structure / Working Principle / Installation / Precautions:
- Install in IEMMU21; wire dry contacts (N.C. or N.O.) between input terminal and common (refer to TA for FEC — e.g., TA567 with voltage-grade appropriate common)
- In configuration assign module type = IMFEC12, set voltage grade, debounce time, SOE enable
- Ensure controller time synchronization (NTP / IRIG-B) is active — SOE timestamps are meaningless if controller clock drifts
- Precaution: Use same voltage grade throughout the module — mixing 24 V and 110 V on one FEC module is NOT possible; select correct grade module for each application
- For N.C. contacts (e.g., E-Stop N.C.), the “normal” state is ON — SOE records the falling edge (contact opening = alarm/trip)
- Verify contact wetting — some versions require external wetting voltage for very low-energy dry contacts (gold-flashed contacts recommended for <10 mA)
