  • Technical / Licensing Details:
    • Platform: Windows Server 2016/2019 + Windows 10/11 clients (per 800xA version compatibility matrix)
    • Server Components Required (sold separately or bundled): Aspect Server (AS), Connectivity Server (CS), Alarm & Event Server (AES)
    • Redundancy: O4LE licenses are per client connection — AS/CS can be redundant; OWP count unchanged
    • Dongle: USB HASP key — must be present in the Aspect Server (or designated license server) for options to be available; lost key = cannot start 800xA services above demo mode
    • Version Lock: O4LE for v6.1 will NOT activate v6.0 — upgrade requires new license part
  • Functional Features:
    • 4 OWP: Faceplate-based process graphics, alarm list, trend, SFC/sequence view, batch view
    • 1 EWP: Control Builder M, Graphic Builder, Plant Explorer, I/O engineering, AC 800M / 800xA config
    • Integrated alarm management (ISA-18.2 based), time synchronization, role-based access control
    • Extensible — can add more OWP seats (O1LE = +1 op seat), batch, advanced alarm, history, etc.
  • Application Scenarios:
    • New 800xA / Symphony Plus DCS project — base operator + engineer license
    • Upgrade / expansion — adding 4 more op stations to existing plant
    • Spare media & key for disaster recovery (must match installed version)
  • Installation / Activation Requirements:
    • Install 800xA Server components (AS, CS, AES) on Windows Server per ABB install guide
    • Insert USB dongle into Aspect Server before running License Manager
    • Run ABB License Manager → “Activate” → point to dongle; verify O4LE features show “Licensed”
    • Install OWP software on 4 client PCs; point them to AS hostname/IP
    • Install EWP software on engineering workstation; connect to AS for config work
    • Precautions:
      • Keep dongle safe​ — it IS the license; losing it requires proof-of-purchase and ABB license reissue (fee may apply)
      • Back up license activation file (.dat) after first activation — speeds recovery
      • Do NOT mix dongles from different versions — can cause feature mismatch warnings
      • Before OS reinstall / server migration: deactivate license (if network allows) or document dongle serial & have proof of purchase ready for manual reactivation
