ABB PM876

Product Brief:​ The PM876 (part of the PM870 family — 876 = 1 GB RAM version) is ABB’s third-generation AC 800M controller, introduced with System 800xA 6.x / Freelance 2016+. It retains full backward compatibility with PM865/PM866 application code (subject to Control Builder M version) but adds:

  • 1 GB application RAM / 2 GB Flash
  • Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000BaseT)
  • Hardware-based secure boot, TPM (Trusted Platform Module) option, enhanced user/auth management​ aligning with IEC 62443-3-3 SL2/SL3
  • Faster scan for large applications; improved OPC UA / IEC 61850 performance

    It mounts on BC810/BC820 baseplates and is redundancy-ready (1:1 hot-standby with PM876 pair).

    • Enhanced audit trail — tracks who changed what in controller config (with 800xA user auth)
    • Precaution:​ Cannot mix PM876 with PM865/PM866 in redundant pair — must be identical. Firmware/Control Builder M version must be 6.x+ — check project & server compatibility before migrating.
