ABB TC514V2

nterpretation: In many ABB spare lists “TC514V2” = CI520A (or CI522A) — the S100 Bus Interface for connecting AC 800M or Advant Controller 450 to S100 I/O clusters (SPCJ4D34-headed racks or direct S100 I/O chain). The CI520A plugs into the CEX slot of an AC 800M CPU baseplate (or into Advant Controller communication slot) and provides the S100 bus master function + fiber/serial link to the S100 I/O cluster’s SPCJ4D34 or first S100 module.

Description

ABB TC514V2

  • Technical Specifications (CI520A / CI522A — TC514V2 equivalent):
    • Function: S100 bus master — generates S100 cycles, exchanges I/O image with controller
    • S100 Bus: Drives up to N S100 I/O modules per cluster (typ. 32–64); multiple clusters possible via multiple CI520A or daisy-chained SPCJ4D34 clusters
    • Connection to S100 Cluster: Via S100 bus cable (flat ribbon + terminator) to first termination unit or to SPCJ4D34
    • Redundancy: AC 800M redundant pair each can have CI520A (both talk to same cluster — controller selects primary’s I/O image)
    • Power: From CEX-bus (5 V DC)
    • LEDs: Run, Err, Active, Warning
    • Mounting: CEX slot AC 800M baseplate or Advant Controller comm slot
    • Firmware: Loaded from controller; must match system version
    • Compatibility: Works with I/O modules (SPDSI13/14, SPCIS22, SPDO…, SPAI…) & SPCJ4D34 cluster processors
  • Functional Features / Application / Material / Structure / Working Principle / Installation / Precautions:
    • Used when retaining existing I/O in a migration from Advant 450 → AC 800M — keeps I/O, replaces controller + INNIS21/INICT13 with AC 800M + CI520A
    • Also used in pure Advant 450 systems (slot in controller — same hardware)
    • Install CI520A in CEX slot → connect bus cable to first I/O rack’s SPCJ4D34 or direct to TA563 termination unit (if no SPCJ4D34 — earliest racks had bus terminator + power module only)
    • In Control Builder M / Advant Eng Tool: define I/O station → assign module types (SPDSI13 etc.) → download → verify Active LED
    • Precaution: bus must be terminated with 95 Ω resistor plug at last node. Total bus length ≤ limits in manual(typically ≤50 m between nodes; total ≤200 m depending on load). If mixing old & new S800 — they are NOT on same bus — S800 = HN800 (CI840A); = bus (CI520A). Keep separate.
    • For redundant AC 800M: both CPUs can have — no special sync needed for I/O; controller logic uses primary’s I/O scan; standby mirrors image.
