Working Principle: The servo drive supplies three-phase variable frequency AC power to stator windings. Rotating magnetic field interacts with permanent magnets on rotor to generate torque. The resolver or SinCos encoder feeds back real-time rotor position and speed to servo drive. The drive adjusts current magnitude and phase angle to maintain precise speed or position. The electromagnetic holding brake engages when power is cut to lock the motor shaft against static load.
Installation Requirements:
- Mount motor on rigid mechanical base to avoid resonance
- Align coupling precisely to eliminate radial and axial misalignment
- Use shielded cable for motor power and encoder feedback wiring
- Leave space around motor housing for natural convection cooling
- Install cable strain relief to prevent connector mechanical stress
- Ground motor housing reliably per local electrical standards
Usage Notes:
- Match motor rated voltage, current and feedback type with Baumüller servo drive
- Do not exceed continuous and peak torque rating
- Check brake function before commissioning vertical load applications
- Avoid continuous operation at resonant mechanical frequencies
- Prevent coolant, dust and cutting chips entering motor housing
- Disconnect power before coupling or connector maintenance
