Bently 3500/45M

Product Introduction
The 3500/45M is an enhanced, M-Series 4-channel position monitor module within the Bently Nevada 3500 Machinery Protection System. It is specifically designed to accept inputs from proximity transducers, rotary position transducers (RPTs), DC LVDTs, AC LVDTs, and rotary potentiometers. The module conditions these inputs and compares the processed signals against user-programmable alarms to provide critical mechanical protection.

Description

Bently 3500/45M

Technical Specifications

  • Module Type: Enhanced 4-Channel Position Monitor (M-Series)
  • Channel Count: 4 independent channels
  • Slot Placement: Any available monitor slot
  • Input Compatibility: Proximity, RPT, DC LVDT, AC LVDT, Rotary Potentiometer

Functional Features

  • Comprehensive Position Monitoring: Programmable to measure axial (thrust) position, differential expansion, case expansion, and valve position.
  • Advanced Ramp Configurations: Supports standard single ramp, non-standard single ramp, dual ramp, and complementary differential expansion monitoring.
  • Enhanced Diagnostics: M-Series architecture provides improved internal health monitoring and faster data processing.

Application Scenarios
Deployed in critical steam turbines, gas turbines, and large compressors where precise monitoring of rotor-to-casing clearances and axial positioning is required to prevent catastrophic mechanical damage.

Performance Parameters

  • Operating Temperature Range: -30°C to +65°C
  • Storage Temperature Range: -40°C to +85°C
  • Humidity Tolerance: 95% non-condensing

Material Composition
Constructed with high-grade industrial electronic components, conformal-coated printed circuit boards, and robust internal terminal blocks to withstand harsh industrial environments.

Structural Characteristics
Full-height module featuring front-panel LED indicators for module status (OK), communication (TX/RX), and bypass mode. Includes buffered sensor outputs for external diagnostics.

Working Principle
Receives raw analog signals from various position transducers, conditions and scales them according to the configured sensor type, and continuously compares the values against programmed Alert and Danger setpoints to trigger protective relays.

Installation Requirements
Must be installed in an available monitor slot within the 3500 rack. Requires the 3500 Rack Configuration Software for proper channel setup and sensor calibration.

Usage Notes
Channels are programmed in pairs. Channels 1 and 2 can perform one function, while Channels 3 and 4 can perform another. Only Channels 3 and 4 are capable of performing Case Expansion monitoring.
