Working Principle: The 5mm probe operates on the eddy current principle. High-frequency current through the internal coil generates an alternating magnetic field. When a conductive target surface enters this field, eddy currents are induced, altering the coil impedance. The proximitor converts this impedance change into a voltage signal proportional to the gap distance. The system measures both static (position) and dynamic (vibration) data.
Installation Requirements:
- The mounting hole must be pre-machined with 1/4-28 UNF internal thread
- Total system length (probe cable + extension cable) must match the proximitor’s nominal length (5-meter or 9-meter)
- ClickLoc connectors require only finger-tight torque (connectors will “click”)
- Connector protectors are recommended for all installations
- Probe axis must be aligned perpendicular to the target surface
Usage Precautions:
- The unthreaded length must be at least 0.8 inches less than the case length
- Cable bending radius must meet minimum requirements
- Shield must be grounded at a single point only
- Verify probe RPROBE after installation to confirm cable integrity
- Use proper grounding and routing to avoid EMI coupling
