Working Principle The probe operates using eddy current technology. The probe coil, energized by the Proximitor sensor, creates an electromagnetic field at the probe tip. When a conductive target is present, circulating eddy currents are generated in the target material. The Proximitor sensor detects the resulting impedance change and generates a DC voltage output that varies linearly with the distance between probe tip and target surface.
Installation Requirements
- Mount in 1/4-28 UNF threaded hole with appropriate tap drill
- Maintain perpendicular alignment to target surface
- Recommended tightening torque is 5.1 N·m
- Maximum safe torque is 7.3 N·m
- Set initial gap voltage within linear range
- Connect to compatible 3300 series extension cable and Proximitor sensor
Operating Considerations
- Target material must be conductive and match calibration standard
- Avoid probe-to-shaft contact during operation
- Maintain minimum cable bend radius of 25.4 mm
- Inspect cable and connector condition regularly
- Replace if probe tip shows wear or damage
- Use connector protection cap when not connected
