- Module guide rails for plug-in installation of all 3500 modules
- Cable management provisions at the rear
Working Principle:
The rack serves as the mechanical and electrical backbone of the 3500 system. The backplane provides power distribution from the 3500/15 power supply modules to all installed modules and establishes a shared communication bus that allows modules to exchange data, synchronize alarm states, and coordinate protection actions without external wiring.
Installation Requirements:
- Mount on a standard 19-inch EIA rail using the provided mounting hardware
- Ensure adequate clearance at the rear for wiring access and module extraction
- Install the 3500/15 power supply and 3500/20 Rack Interface Module in the leftmost two slots
- Ground the rack according to Bently Nevada grounding practices
- If internal partitions are installed, a 3500/04-01 internal partition grounding module is required in a dedicated rack position
Usage Notes:
- The rack-mount format provides rear access only — ensure the installation location allows rear access for wiring and maintenance
- The 3500/05 mini-rack does not support the wall-mount option; this full-size rack supports panel-mount, rack-mount, and wall-mount formats
- When using the mini-rack in a 19-inch EIA rack, a 144863-01 adapter panel is required (not applicable to this full-size model)
- Verify that the rack is properly grounded before energizing any modules
