Emerson 5X00501G01

Product Introduction This is an I/O card for the Emerson Ovation distributed control system. It receives analog field signals from transmitters, performs signal conditioning and analog-to-digital conversion, and transmits digital process values to the Ovation controller for monitoring and closed-loop regulation.

Description

Emerson 5X00501G01

Technical Specifications Multiple isolated analog input channels; accepts 4-20mA DC transmitter signals; 24-bit A/D conversion; channel-to-system isolation; provides loop power supply for two-wire transmitters; backplane bus powered; supports open-circuit diagnostics.

Functional Features Converts field analog current signals into digital data for the DCS controller. Isolation circuits block common-mode interference and ground loop noise. Each channel independently detects wire break faults and sends alarm messages to the operator station. Supports hot standby redundancy configuration. Channel scaling parameters can be configured through Ovation engineering software. Single channel fault does not interrupt data acquisition of other channels.

Application Scenarios Thermal power plants, water treatment plants and industrial process facilities using Emerson Ovation DCS for pressure, flow, liquid level and temperature measurement.

Performance Parameters High conversion accuracy; low temperature drift; strong common-mode noise rejection; stable data update cycle during continuous plant operation.

Material Composition Circuit board substrate is FR-4 flame-retardant multilayer PCB; A/D converter and signal conditioning chips are industrial grade; backplane connector contacts are gold-plated; terminal base housing uses flame-retardant PC plastic; terminal conductors are nickel-plated.

Structural Characteristics Rack plug-in card structure; front panel fitted with LED indicators for run status, fault status and channel alarms; rear edge gold fingers mate with the Ovation I/O backplane; anti-keying pins prevent reverse insertion; card secured to the rack with fixing screws; flat ribbon cable connects the card to the field terminal unit.

Working Principle Field 4-20mA signals enter the terminal base and reach the card’s isolation and conditioning circuits. The conditioned analog signal is sent to the A/D converter and converted into digital values. Digital data is transmitted over the Ovation backplane bus to the controller. The card continuously monitors loop current levels to identify open or short circuit conditions and upload fault alarms.

Installation Requirements Install the card only after cutting off power to the control cabinet. Slide the module into the designated I/O rack slot and tighten fixing screws. Use shielded twisted pair field cables with single-point grounding of the shield layer. Configure channel ranges and alarm thresholds using Ovation engineering software after power-on.

Precautions for Use Follow electrostatic protection procedures during handling. Hot insertion and removal of the module are prohibited. Separate signal cables from high-voltage power cables. If channel faults occur, inspect field wiring and transmitters before replacing the module. No user-serviceable components exist inside the card.
