Working Principle:
The A6740-10 receives 60 input signals from the AMS 6500 monitoring modules, including channel clear, alert, and danger signals for each monitored parameter. The internal microprocessor processes these inputs according to user-configured Boolean logic expressions (AND, OR, two-out-of-three voting, etc.) with adjustable time delays (0-30 seconds). When the configured logic conditions are met, the corresponding relay output is energized or de-energized to trigger alarms or trip the machinery. Each of the 16 relays can be independently configured with up to 30 logic expressions, providing flexible protection logic. The module continuously monitors its own status and communicates with the AMS 6500 system via the backplane. Configuration is performed through graphical software that guides users through the logic setup process.
Installation Requirements:
- Install in compatible IMR6500 series rack
- Ensure proper alignment before inserting the module
- Connect relay output wiring according to protection system design
- Verify control voltage is within 13-32VDC range
- Ensure proper grounding of the rack and module
- Configure relay logic and time delays via AMS software
- Follow AMS 6500 system installation and wiring guidelines
- Attach identification plate to handle for module identification
Usage Precautions:
- Confirm relay contact ratings (48V, 1A) match connected load requirements
- Ensure only trained personnel configure relay logic
- Follow ESD precautions when handling the module
- Verify logic configuration before enabling protective functions
- Test relay operation during commissioning to confirm correct trip logic
- Monitor LED indicators for relay status verification
- Keep spare modules available for critical protection applications
- Document all logic configuration and time delay settings
- Ensure operating temperature is within 0°C to 65°C range
- Schedule periodic testing of relay outputs for functional verification
