Working Principle The module connects to DeltaV controller through rack backplane, and connects to third-party devices via RS232 or RS485 serial cables. It receives serial data uploaded by third-party instruments, converts data format and transmits data to DeltaV controller through LocalBus. It receives read and write commands from DeltaV controller and forwards commands to connected serial field devices. On-board monitoring circuit checks serial communication frame and connection state continuously. When communication timeout or cable disconnection occurs, module generates fault alarm and sends alarm message to DeltaV operator station.
Installation Requirements Insert module along rack guide rail into designated DeltaV rack slot and lock mechanical latch. Connect field serial communication cables to module serial terminals. Use shielded twisted-pair cables for RS485 wiring. Separate serial communication cables from high-voltage power cables. Reserve air circulation space around module for heat dissipation. Complete serial communication protocol and baud rate parameter configuration in DeltaV engineering workstation after hardware installation.
Precautions for Use Take anti-static protective measures during module handling. Do not touch gold-plated connector pins directly by bare hands. Inspect serial cable and connector condition regularly. Do not apply overvoltage to serial communication terminals. Do not disassemble module housing.
