Working Principle:
The KJ3002X1-BF1 receives 4-20 mA current loop signals from field transmitters through its input channels. Each channel conditions the analog signal, performs analog-to-digital conversion, and transmits the digitized process variable to the DeltaV controller via the LocalBus. When HART-enabled transmitters are connected, the module superimposes digital HART communication on the 4-20 mA signal, enabling bidirectional data exchange for remote configuration, diagnostics, and access to additional process variables stored in the smart transmitter.
Installation Requirements:
- Install on the appropriate DeltaV I/O carrier with a compatible terminal block
- Set the terminal block key position to A1 to match the I/O card
- Connect field wiring to the terminal block following the wiring diagram on the left side of the card
- Ensure LocalBus power (12 VDC at 150 mA) and bussed field power (24 VDC at 300 mA) are available from the carrier
- Maintain operating temperature within specified range
- Follow Emerson installation documentation for hazardous area requirements
Usage Precautions:
- Remove field power before removing or connecting the device
- Only one unit at a time shall be removed with system power energized
- The unit contains no user-serviceable parts and shall not be disassembled
- Calibration is not required for this module
- Verify HART compatibility of connected field instruments before configuration
- Perform periodic I/O loop assessments to verify signal integrity
