Emerson PR6423000-111

Product Introduction PR6423000-111 is an 8 mm eddy current probe from the Emerson (formerly Bently Nevada) 3300XL series. The sensor non-contact measures shaft radial vibration, axial displacement, and speed, with an eddy-current proportional voltage output. Paired with a CON021 proximitor, it is used in TSI monitoring of steam turbines, fans, and compressors.

Materials and Construction

  • Probe housing: Stainless steel
  • Coil: Enameled copper wire
  • Cable: Coaxial shielded
  • Fitting: M10 thread
  • Seal: Epoxy potting
  • Nut: Stainless steel

Structural Features

  • Cylindrical stainless steel probe with M10 thread
  • Front sensing coil
  • Rear 5 m coaxial cable
  • Locking mounting nut
  • Probe sealed potting
  • Coaxial connector

Working Principle High-frequency current in the probe tip coil generates a high-frequency magnetic field. Induced eddy currents in the rotating metal shaft change coil impedance. The proximitor converts impedance change to a voltage proportional to probe-to-shaft distance. Distance variation reflects shaft vibration displacement.

Installation Requirements

  • Screw thread into rack measurement hole
  • Probe face parallel to shaft surface
  • Adjust gap within ±1 mm linear range
  • Lock mounting nut
  • Coaxial cable to proximitor
  • Route cable away from power cables
  • Temperature -35 °C to +120 °C
  • Calibrate gap voltage with proximitor after power-up

Precautions

  • Do not impact probe
  • Do not over-bend coaxial cable
  • Shaft surface clean and free of rust
  • Measuring surface must be ferrous
  • Store spares in dry environment
  • Periodically calibrate gap
