Material Composition FR4 multilayer PCB, HART modem IC, instrumentation amplifier, optocoupler isolation chips, precision 250 ohm shunt resistors, TVS surge diodes, screw terminal FTA interface, gold plated backplane edge connector, flame retardant plastic front panel.
Structural Features Standard eurocard plug-in form factor compatible with HPM I/O rack slot. Rear gold edge connector mates with HPM backplane bus. Internal isolation barrier separates field HART loop circuit and rack logic circuit. Front panel LED array shows power, TX/RX activity and group fault status. Anti-keying notch prevents reversed insertion. Analog signal traces are shielded to reduce HART signal interference.
Working Principle Field 4-20 mA current flows through precision shunt resistor and converts to analog voltage for ADC sampling. Superimposed HART frequency shift keying signal is demodulated by onboard HART modem chip. Modem parses HART command and response data. Valid digital variable and analog value are packed into communication frame and transmitted to HPM controller. If HART response is missing or current is out of range, channel fault flag is generated.
Installation Requirements Field HART wiring uses twisted shielded pair cable, shield grounded only at cabinet side. Install 250 ohm HART load resistor on field loop when required by transmitter specification. Separate HART signal cable from high voltage power cable. Configure transmitter tag and polling address in HPM configuration software after commissioning. Verify firmware compatibility between module and HPM controller.
Usage Notes Dual end shield grounding creates HART communication noise and packet loss. Do not apply AC voltage directly to 4-20 mA HART terminals. HART multi-drop loop configuration requires correct total loop resistance calculation. Do not replace onboard shunt resistor with non-precision resistor.
