Material Composition FR4 high-speed PCB substrate High-speed differential transceiver chip FPGA sync logic controller Gold-plated sync cable connector Optocoupler isolation circuits Metal shielded front panel
Structural Features Standard VME form factor board. Front panel houses the high-density sync cable connector. LED array shows sync link and data transfer status. Equal-length differential traces ensure consistent signal delay across sync channels. Metal shielded enclosure contains high-speed sync signal radiation.
Working Principle After system power-up, the two paired controllers establish a sync handshake over the interface board link. The primary controller continuously transmits all runtime variables, logic state and intermediate data to the standby controller via the high-speed sync link. The standby controller receives and stores this data, running identical control logic without driving field outputs. The link monitor circuit continuously checks sync connection health; cable loss or data corruption triggers an alarm. On primary controller failure, the standby uses mirrored state to take over control with no process disturbance.
Installation Requirements Insert the sync board into the dedicated sync slot in both primary and standby controller mainframes. Connect the high-density sync flat cable between the two boards, lock connector clips. Confirm sync status LED shows normal lock after power-up. Perform a forced primary fault test during commissioning, verify bumpless switchover.
Usage Notes Sync cable length must not exceed 3 meters; longer runs cause signal timing errors. Never disconnect the sync cable during operation; this disables redundancy function and triggers alarm. Loose sync connector causes intermittent data corruption; inspect connector lock status during maintenance. Paired controllers must run identical firmware revision; mismatched versions prevent sync handshake.
