Description
Honeywell 51404170-175
Technical Specifications Onboard flash memory capacity 16MB Onboard RAM 32MB Backplane communication bus rate 5Mbps Operating supply 5VDC from rack backplane Operating temperature 0℃ to 60℃ Storage temperature -40℃ to 85℃ Humidity 5% to 95% non-condensing Supports redundant pairing with identical processor module Equipped with watchdog timer for fault recovery
Functional Features It downloads and executes user control strategy including PID loops, logic gates and sequential control. It reads process values from I/O modules via rack backplane. It calculates control output values and sends commands to output IOM modules. It uploads process variables, alarms and event logs to the system network. It supports redundant hot standby with automatic bumpless switchover. The watchdog circuit triggers module reset upon program stall.
Application Scenarios Main control rack processor for Honeywell TDC3000 control systems in refineries Core logic processor for power plant auxiliary control systems Sequence and regulatory control for chemical batch reaction processes Process control for natural gas metering stations Upgrade spare processor unit for legacy DCS retrofit projects
Performance Parameters Control logic scan period is configurable from 100ms upwards Redundant switchover completes without control loop bump Watchdog timeout is fixed at 200ms Backplane data transmission uses CRC error checking
Material Composition Multi-layer FR4 high-speed flame retardant PCB with G3 conformal coating Main processor chip is industrial grade RISC microprocessor Memory components are wide-temperature flash and RAM chips Backplane connector is gold-plated copper contact assembly Front panel is gray flame retardant PC plastic
Structural Characteristics Standard single-slot vertical plug-in rack card Front panel fitted with power, run, communication and fault LED indicators Two elastic locking latches on both sides for rack insertion and extraction Fool-proof keying prevents insertion into incompatible slots Passive convection cooling without cooling fan
Working Principle After power-up, the module loads control strategy from non-volatile flash memory into RAM. The processor scans control logic periodically, reads field data from I/O modules through backplane bus, executes control algorithms, and writes output values to output IOMs. It packages process data and alarms and transmits them to the system network. In redundant configuration, the standby processor synchronizes all data from the primary module continuously and takes over control when primary fault is detected.
Installation Requirements Insert vertically into dedicated processor slot of the compatible Honeywell control rack Ensure backplane connector fully mates with rack backplane Maintain free airflow around the module slot Cabinet grounding resistance must be ≤4Ω Download matching control database after module replacement
Usage Notes The module firmware version must match the host DCS system software version Download the complete control strategy after online replacement Do not remove the module while the rack remains energized unless hot-swap is approved by system procedure Keep the module away from corrosive gas and heavy dust
