Honeywell 627-1003

Product Introduction This interface adapter connects the 621/627 series PLC programming handheld terminals and configuration PCs to the PLC programming port. It converts RS232 serial signal levels to the proprietary backplane programming bus level, enabling program download, online debugging and variable force operations during on-site commissioning. It is an essential interface accessory for legacy 621 system field maintenance.

Material Composition FR4 PCB substrate RS232 level translation chip ESD protection diodes Gold-plated DB25 connector Gold-plated backplane mating plug ABS flame retardant plastic enclosure

Structural Features Small rectangular block form factor, plugs directly into the rack programming port. Side-facing DB25 female port connects to programming device serial cable. Front panel status LED indicates active programming link. Full plastic enclosure covers internal circuitry, prevents accidental short circuit against adjacent components.

Working Principle RS232 serial signals from the programming device pass through the level translation chip, converted to TTL-level signals compatible with the backplane programming bus, then transmitted to the CPU module. Debug and monitor data returned from the CPU passes through the level translation chip again, converted back to RS232 signals for transmission to the programming device. ESD protection components divert static charge generated during cable plug-in, preventing electrostatic damage to the CPU programming port.

Installation Requirements Insert the adapter into the rack programming port only when rack power is off. Use original 627 series programming cable for DB25 connection. Route serial cable separately from high-voltage power cable bundles. Verify the link status LED illuminates after power-up, confirming normal communication.

Usage Notes Never hot-swap the adapter, this causes programming port communication error. Oxidized DB25 pins cause intermittent communication loss; clean contacts regularly. This adapter does not support direct USB-to-serial device connection, use only original programming hardware. Replace the entire adapter on internal circuit failure, no field component-level repair supported.
