Honeywell DWAM16

Product Introduction This analog input module connects to Honeywell DDC and small process control systems, acquiring 0–10 V and 4–20 mA signals from field temperature, pressure and humidity sensors. The 16-channel design reduces installed module count for multi-point sensing systems, and features per-channel software configuration.

Material Composition ABS flame retardant housing 12-bit ADC chip array TVS surge protection diodes Removable screw terminal blocks Epoxy PCB DIN rail mounting clip

Structural Features Long rectangular DIN-rail mount housing. Two rows of screw terminals on the front for channel wiring. Side bus connector mates to adjacent DDC module. Front power and status LEDs. Mounting clip locks to standard 35 mm DIN rail.

Working Principle Field sensor signals connect to input terminals, routed to the on-board 12-bit ADC per channel. The ADC converts analog voltage or current values to digital data. Module logic packages all 16 channel values into communication frames, transmitted to the main controller over the expansion bus. Per-channel configuration registers store input type settings, adjusting signal scaling for 0–10 V, 4–20 mA or thermistor inputs. Surge protection diodes clamp transient voltage spikes before they reach sensitive ADC circuits.

Installation Requirements Clip the module to the DIN rail next to the main DDC controller. Connect the expansion bus connector between modules. Wire field sensors to channel terminals per labeled numbering. Configure input type per channel in the system configuration software.

Usage Notes Never apply 24 V power directly to voltage input channels, this damages the ADC input. Shielded cable for current loop sensors reduces electromagnetic noise. Removable terminal blocks must be fully seated, loose connections cause channel dropout. Do not mix analog input wiring with high-voltage power cabling in the same conduit.
