Honeywell FS-SDI-1624

Product Introduction FS-SDI-1624 is a high density safe digital input module for Honeywell Safety Manager SIS safety instrumented system. It collects 24VDC discrete on-off signal from field limit switches, proximity sensors, safety interlock contacts and valve feedback switches. It carries out dual redundant signal comparison and fault diagnosis to meet SIL safety requirement. It transmits discrete status data and diagnostic information to Safety Manager controller via backplane bus. It supports hot swap operation and each channel provides independent loop fault detection. It matches with corresponding FTA termination assembly for field wiring.

Material Composition FR4 flame retardant PCB with optional conformal coating High speed optocoupler isolation array Dual redundant signal sampling circuit TVS surge suppression diodes Current sampling resistors ABS flame retardant front panel Tri-color LED indicators Metal locking buckle and gold finger contacts

Structural Features Standard plug-in I/O module form factor for Safety Manager rack. Front panel integrates power, fault and channel LED indicators. Side anti-misalignment notch prevents reverse insertion. Rear gold finger contacts connect to rack backplane bus. Internal circuit adopts dual redundant sampling architecture for safety cross-verification. Isolation barrier separates field circuit and internal logic circuit. Lock clip secures module on rack slot.

Working Principle Field 24VDC discrete signal enters module through matched FTA termination assembly. Optocoupler converts field voltage signal into logic level and isolates field circuit. Dual redundant sampling circuit reads signal status independently. The core logic compares two sampling results. If results match, the signal status is sent to Safety Manager controller. If deviation appears continuously, the module triggers fault alarm and reports diagnostic information.

Installation Requirements Power off rack before inserting module. Align notch and insert into vacant I/O slot, lock buckle. Connect field switch shielded cable to matched FTA terminal block. Configure input mode, de-bounce time and fault parameters in Safety Manager engineering software. Power on rack and verify channel status matches field switch action. Separate signal cable from high voltage power cable.

Usage Notes Do not apply AC voltage to any input terminal. Input voltage must stay within 18VDC to 30VDC range. Static protection wrist strap must be worn during module replacement. Set proper de-bounce time for mechanical contact switches to avoid bounce interference. Do not use this module for non-safety ordinary control loop without engineering approval.
