Honeywell TC-OAV081

Product Introduction This analog output card receives control commands from the DCS CPU, outputting 0–10 V DC voltage signals to drive field electric actuators, proportional valves and chart recorders. Each channel includes independent isolation, output readback monitoring and fail-safe output functionality, supporting continuous process control voltage output loops.

Material Composition FR4 PCB substrate 12-bit DAC chip Voltage output operational amplifier Optocoupler isolation devices Precision reference voltage chip TVS surge protection diodes Gold-plated backplane edge fingers UL94 V0 flame retardant plastic front panel

Structural Features Standard Eurocard dimensions, inserts into V-series rack I/O slots. Front screw terminals silk-screened per channel, marking output positive and negative polarity. Isolation barrier separates field output side and backplane logic side. Front panel LEDs display card run and fault status.

Working Principle Digital setpoint values from the controller travel via the backplane bus to the output card. The 12-bit DAC converts digital values to analog voltage signals, amplified and output to field loads by the operational amplifier drive circuit. Readback sampling continuously measures actual output voltage; deviation between measured feedback and command triggers a channel fault alarm. When communication is lost, the card outputs the pre-configured fail-safe value to place actuators in a safe position. Short-circuit detection circuit activates current limiting protection during overcurrent events.

Installation Requirements Use shielded twisted pair for output wiring, single-point shield grounding. Configure fail-safe output voltage value per channel in software. Ensure load impedance is no lower than 2 kΩ, to avoid output voltage droop. Calibrate zero and span output per channel after power-up.

Usage Notes Output terminal short circuit triggers protection; auto-recovery occurs after fault removal. Never connect external power to output terminals, reverse voltage destroys the DAC chip. Low load impedance causes insufficient output drive capability and signal deviation.
