LYNGSO MARINE IOM402

Product Introduction IOM402 is a rugged marine I/O module manufactured by Lyngso Marine for shipboard automation and engine monitoring systems. It forms part of the vessel UMS unattended machinery space control system. The module collects analog and digital signals from marine transducers, engine sensors, limit switches and auxiliary equipment, and transmits processed data to the main marine automation controller. It outputs discrete control signals for valves, relays and alarm indicators on board vessels. This unit complies with marine classification society standards for shock, vibration and humidity resistance inside ship machinery compartments.

Working Principle Field sensor and contact signals enter IOM402 through front terminal block. Analog signals pass through signal conditioning and A/D conversion. Digital input circuits read contact state via optocoupler isolation. The module sends collected process data to the main marine automation controller over rack fieldbus. The controller returns operation commands to IOM402, and the onboard driver circuits activate corresponding output channels to actuate field devices. The diagnostic circuit continuously monitors wiring impedance and channel status, and sends fault alarm messages to the vessel alarm system when abnormalities occur.

Installation Requirements

  • Insert IOM402 into designated slot inside marine automation control rack.
  • Use shielded twisted pair cable for all field sensor and contact wiring.
  • Separate instrument signal cables from high power motor and power distribution cables.
  • Complete protective earth connection to ship protective earth busbar.
  • Configure channel type, measurement range and alarm threshold in marine automation software.
  • Simulate sensor fault and contact state change to verify channel performance.
  • Secure cabinet door and cable glands to prevent salt mist ingress into cabinet.

Usage Notes

  • Do not exceed rated voltage and current limits for each I/O channel.
  • Regularly inspect cabinet for salt mist condensation and corrosion on terminals.
  • Backup vessel automation configuration before module replacement.
  • Disconnect rack power before extracting or inserting module.
  • Use anti-static wristband when handling spare module.
  • Replace module immediately when permanent communication or channel circuit failure occurs.
