Working Principle RTD or thermocouple temperature signal from hazardous zone enters HID2082 input terminals. Internal A/D converter samples raw sensor signal. Microcontroller applies linearization calculation and cold junction compensation for thermocouple input. The module converts calibrated temperature value into standard 4-20mA or 1-5V analog output. Galvanic isolation barrier blocks ground potential difference between field and control cabinet. Sensor break and line fault detection continuously monitors sensor loop impedance and triggers fault indication when wiring or sensing element fails.
Installation Requirements
- Mount HID2082 on 35 mm DIN rail inside non-hazardous control cabinet only.
- Use shielded twisted pair intrinsically safe instrument cable for temperature sensor wiring.
- Separate intrinsically safe wiring from non-safe power cables in cable trays.
- Complete protective earth connection to cabinet ground bar.
- Set sensor type, measurement range and output parameters via PACTware before commissioning.
- Perform temperature signal simulation test and sensor break fault simulation test after wiring completion.
- Confirm ATEX / IECEx installation rules for hazardous area temperature sensor wiring.
Usage Notes
- Do not modify internal safety components of the isolated barrier.
- Do not connect non-intrinsically safe power to field-side sensor terminals.
- Keep cabinet environment free of corrosive gas and conductive dust.
- Inspect terminal screw tightness periodically under vibration conditions.
- Disconnect power before modifying intrinsically safe wiring.
- Use anti-static wristband when handling spare modules.
- Replace unit immediately when permanent isolation or signal conversion fault occurs.
