Description

Photonetics Tunics-OM 3646 HE 1540

Technical Specifications Tunable wavelength range covering 1540nm band; narrow spectral linewidth; stabilized optical power output; built‑in wavelength locking control; FC/APC or FC/PC optical fiber output port; GPIB and serial remote communication interfaces.

Functional Features Generates coherent, wavelength adjustable laser light for optical component characterization. Maintains constant output power while tuning wavelength. Supports remote programming via digital communication interfaces for automated test sequences. Provides internal wavelength and power monitoring readings on the front panel display.

Application Scenarios Optical communication component manufacturing test laboratories, fiber optics research facilities, WDM filter characterization and optical amplifier performance measurement.

Performance Parameters Low wavelength drift; high side mode suppression ratio; stable output power over tuning range; low polarization dependent output variation.

Material Composition Main enclosure is powder coated aluminum alloy; internal laser diode and optical isolator components are hermetically sealed; optical output connector uses ceramic ferrule; internal optical bench uses low vibration alloy structure; control electronics use FR‑4 precision circuit boards.

Structural Characteristics Rack compatible benchtop chassis; front panel with wavelength and power display, navigation keys and optical fiber output port; rear panel fitted with communication connectors, power inlet and ventilation fans.

Working Principle A grating tuned laser diode generates monochromatic light. Internal wavelength control circuitry adjusts the grating position to select the target optical wavelength. Optical isolators prevent reflected light from disturbing the laser cavity. Integrated photodiodes sample the output beam to provide closed loop power stabilization.

Installation Requirements Place the unit on a stable vibration free laboratory bench. Allow sufficient clearance around ventilation air intake and exhaust openings. Use high quality single mode optical patch cords matching the connector type. Warm up the laser for the specified stabilization period before taking measurements.

Precautions for Use Do not view the optical output port directly with the naked eye. Protect the optical connector end face from dust and scratches. Avoid sudden mechanical shock to the unit. Shut down the laser before disconnecting fiber cables.
