- Fail-Safe Outputs: Drives the excitation to a safe minimum level upon loss of control signal.
- Diagnostics: Continuous monitoring of output loop integrity.
Application Scenarios
Used in automated generator paralleling systems, microgrid controllers, and modernized legacy power plants.
Performance Parameters
- Linearity: Better than ±0.1% full scale.
- Response Time: Millisecond-level signal propagation.
- Temperature Drift: Minimal drift across the industrial operating temperature range.
Material Composition
Industrial-grade printed circuit board with gold-plated connectors and conformal coating, housed in a protective metal chassis.
Structural Characteristics
- Form Factor: Compact DIN-rail or panel-mount module.
- Indicators: Front-panel LEDs for power, signal presence, and fault conditions.
- Wiring: Plug-in terminal blocks for simplified field wiring.
Working Principle
The module receives a digital or analog command representing the desired generator terminal voltage. It conditions and amplifies this signal, outputting a precise analog voltage or current to the Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR), which in turn adjusts the exciter field current.
Installation Requirements
- Install in a clean, dry control panel away from high-voltage interference.
- Use shielded twisted-pair cables for all analog signal connections.
- Ground the shield at the controller end only to prevent ground loops.
Usage Precautions
- Verify signal scaling matches the AVR input requirements.
- Do not bypass the fail-safe output logic.
- Perform regular calibration checks using a precision multimeter.
