Extensively used in standby and prime power generator sets, fire pump drives, and mechanical drive compressors powered by CAT 3512 engines.
Performance Parameters
- Speed Regulation: ±0.25% steady-state accuracy.
- Protection Response: Instantaneous trip upon detection of critical engine faults.
- Reliability: High MTBF designed for continuous industrial duty.
Material Composition
Ruggedized industrial electronics housed in a NEMA-rated enclosure with vibration-resistant connectors and conformal-coated PCBs.
Structural Characteristics
- Display: Integrated LCD operator panel for local monitoring and configuration.
- Keypad: Membrane keypad for local control and parameter adjustment.
- Connectors: Heavy-duty Deutsch or equivalent connectors for engine sensor interfaces.
Working Principle
The system continuously monitors engine speed via magnetic pickups and compares it to the setpoint. It adjusts the fuel rack actuator to maintain the desired speed. Simultaneously, it monitors all engine protection sensors and initiates alarms or shutdowns if parameters exceed safe limits.
Installation Requirements
- Mount the control panel in a location protected from excessive engine vibration and heat.
- Route sensor cables away from high-current ignition or starter cables.
- Ensure all engine sensors are properly calibrated and connected.
Usage Precautions
- Never bypass engine protection functions during operation.
- Perform regular functional tests of all protection sensors and shutdown relays.
- Keep the control panel air filters clean to prevent overheating.
