ABB AX460100010STD

Product Brief: The AX460 is a microprocessor-based pH and ORP (oxidation-reduction potential) analyzer transmitter for continuous on-line measurement in industrial process liquids. It conditions signals from pH or ORP glass electrodes with automatic temperature compensation and provides analog/digital outputs for integration into plant control systems.

    • Wastewater treatment neutralization basins
    • Food & beverage fermentation and CIP rinse monitoring
  • Material & Structure:
    • Housing: Glass-fiber reinforced polyester or polycarbonate (corrosion-resistant)
    • Gasket: EPDM or Viton depending on version
    • Sensor connection: BNC or DIN plug for pH/ORP; screw terminals for temp sensor
  • Working Principle:

The pH/ORP glass electrode generates a millivolt potential proportional to hydrogen ion activity or redox state. The AX460 amplifies this high-impedance signal, applies temperature correction using the RTD input, computes pH/ORP, and drives the display and isolated 4–20 mA outputs.

  • Installation Requirements:
    • Mount in weather-protected location if not rated for direct sun/rain exposure
    • Use proper electrode mounting fitting (immersion, flow-through, or retractable)
    • Keep sensor cable away from power lines; use shielded cable grounded at analyzer end
  • Precautions:
    • Perform regular 2-point calibration with fresh buffer solutions
    • Do NOT allow pH glass bulb to dry out during storage — keep in KCl storage solution
    • Verify process temperature does not exceed electrode maximum rating
