  • Working Principle:

    The module handles link-layer framing for both AF100 and Profibus DP. For Profibus it implements the FDL (Fieldbus Data Link) layer, managing token passing when acting as master or responding to cyclic data requests as slave. Data is mapped into the process image of the controller via the backplane bus.

  • Installation Requirements:
    • Seat firmly in communication slot; ensure backplane connector is clean
    • Connect Profibus cable with proper A/B wiring (+/− polarity) and terminate both bus ends
    • Import correct GSD file into engineering station if used as Profibus slave in third-party master
  • Precautions:
    • Reversing Profibus A/B wires will prevent communication — double-check polarity
    • Do NOT omit termination resistors on both physical ends of the Profibus segment
    • Firmware version must match project requirements — mismatch may cause config download failure
