ABB HBS01-EPD

Product Brief: The HBS01-EPD (or HBS-series in Symphony Plus) is either an HN800 I/O bus terminator plug (passive resistor network inserted at the last node of the HN800 bus) or an HN800 bus interface / redundancy module linking SD I/O clusters. The “EPD” suffix often denotes “End-of-Point Device” — i.e., the passive termination resistor pack that closes the HN800 differential bus at the furthest I/O station to prevent signal reflections. In some catalogs HBS01 is the bus termination plug; the active bus extender is CRBX01.

Description

ABB HBS01-EPD

  • Technical Specifications (terminator version):
    • Function: Passive HN800bus termination — contains 220 Ω (or per spec 120 Ω) differential termination resistor + bias network
    • Form Factor: Small plug-in keyed module or DIP-switch-equipped terminator that inserts into the HN800 OUT port of the last I/O station’s termination unit
    • Compatibility: Symphony Plus SD I/O stations on HN800 bus (copper segments)
    • Operating Temp.: –40 °C to +70 °C
    • Material: Molded thermoplastic housing, gold-plated pins
  • Functional Features:
    • Ensures proper signal integrity on HN800 bus by eliminating reflections from unterminated stubs
    • Keyed — cannot be inserted backwards or into non-HN800 ports
    • Some versions have LED to confirm termination is seated
  • Application Scenarios:
    • Installed on last SD I/O station’s HN800 bus OUT connector in a multi-drop HN800 network
    • Required on both A-bus and B-bus (redundant ) — two terminators
  • Material & Structure / Working Principle / Installation / Precautions:
    • After cabling all HN800nodes (controller → remote I/O → … → last node), insert HBS01-EPD terminator into the OUT port of the final node
    • For redundant A/B bus: terminate both A and B last nodes
    • Precaution: Omitting termination causes communication errors (CRC failures, intermittent dropouts) — always verify both ends of copper segment have terminator installed. Do NOT use on fiber segments (CRBX01handles optical — no terminator needed there).
