Description
ABB IMSED01
- Technical Specifications (typical 24 V DC version):
- Input Channels: 16 (single group) or 32 (2 groups × 16) — verify exact module label
- Input Voltage Grade: 24 V DC (18–30 V), 48 V DC (38–60 V), 110 V DC (88–132 V), 220 V DC (176–253 V), 230 V AC ±10 % 50/60 Hz — module is grade-specific, NOT mixable
- Input Threshold: ON ≥70 % of nominal voltage grade; OFF ≤30 %
- Input Current (24 V ver): ≈7 mA per channel
- Response Time: <10 ms typical; software debounce 0–127 ms
- Isolation: 1500 V AC channel group-to-backplane; channel-to-channel common within group
- Module Power: 5 V DC from backplane (typ. 150 mA for 16-ch; 250 mA for 32-ch)
- Indicators: Run (green), Fault (red), C.W. Active (green); per-group Input Active LED (lights when any channel in group is ON)
- Operating Temp.: 0 °C to +60 °C
- Functional Features:
- Wetting voltage provided internally for dry contacts (for DC voltage-grade modules — module sources limited current to sense closure)
- Reports contact state and module diagnostics (loss of backplane power, config mismatch) to controller
- Compatible with N.O. or N.C. wiring — logic inversion done in software
- High-voltage grades (110/220 V DC) allow direct connection to breaker auxiliary contacts, protection relay contacts, and utility-grade dry contacts without interposing relay
- Application Scenarios:
- Limit switch / position switch monitoring (N.C. for safety gates, N.O. for “in position”)
- Breaker / disconnect switch auxiliary contact status in electrical substations (110/220 V DC versions)
- Pushbutton / selector switch status on local panels
- Pump “Running” / “Fault” feedback from motor control center aux contacts (24 V DC or 110 V DC depending on MCC design)
- Material & Structure / Working Principle / Installation / Precautions:
- Insert into IEMMU21 I/O slot; wire field contact between input terminal (I0…I15) and common (Cx) on termination assembly (TA567 for 24 V; TA568 for higher voltage grades)
- For dry contacts: module provides sensing current — simply close contact between Ix and Cx
- For AC versions: observe polarity is irrelevant; ensure voltage matches module grade
- In config tool: assign module type = IMSED01, set voltage grade (auto-detected from module ID), debounce time, normal state (N.O./N.C.)
- Precautions:
- NEVER apply 110 V DC to a 24 V DC IMSED01 — immediate destruction of input circuitry
- For 110/220 V DC versions: ensure proper clearance and use of finger-safe terminal covers — hazardous voltage present even when system logic is de-energized
- Verify common (Cx) wiring — all channels in a group share a common reference; do NOT mix PNP sensor outputs with voltage-grade DI unless externally referenced correctly
- Use shielded cable for long runs in noisy environment; ground shield at one end (cabinet earth)
