Description
ABB PFXC141
- Technical Specifications (typical summing/junction box):
- Function: Parallel summation of two 350 Ω SG bridges (PFRL x2) → single output to amplifier; OR direct pass-through with test points
- Terminals: Screw / spring-cage; accepts 0.5–2.5 mm²
- Enclosure: IP65 polycarbonate or die-cast aluminum (field-mount near measuring roll)
- Test Points: 2 mm banana jacks or screw terminals for measuring bridge output / injecting calibration signal
- Operating Temp.: –20 °C to +60 °C
- Cable Glands: PG or M-type; sized for sensor & amplifier cables
- Functional Features:
- Simplifies field wiring — only one cable from junction box to amplifier (vs. two from each PillowBlock)
- Built-in calibration test sockets — inject 2 mV (simulating %FS) to verify amplifier & readout without load
- Strain-relief cable glands protect sensor cables in harsh mill environment
- Application Scenarios:
- Paper machine measuring roll — two PFRL101C PillowBlocks → PFXC141 summing box → PFTL301E in control room
- Steel strip mill — vertical mount PillowBlocks → summing box in nearby junction cabinet → PFSA140
- Retrofit — replace old terminal strip with PFXC141 to get test points & better strain relief
- Material & Structure / Working Principle / Installation / Precautions:
- Mount as close to PillowBlocks as practical (minimize unshielded sensor lead length)
- Wire Left PillowBlock SG+ / SG– / EX+ / EX– to terminals L+ / L– / E+ / E–; Right PillowBlock to R+ / R– / E+ / E–; Output to amplifier on OUT+ / OUT– / EX+ / EX– per diagram (summing achieved by paralleling bridges — requires identical rated sensors)
- Verify shield drain wire grounding — typically shield grounded at amplifier end; drain wire in junction box connected to ground terminal (linked to PE) but NOT to signal common
- Precaution: Only sum identical sensors (same rated load, same bridge resistance, same mV/V) — mismatched sensors cause incorrect total tension. After wiring perform “simulated load test” — inject known mV via test points → verify amplifier reads correct %FS → then do mechanical zero with roll installed.
- Keep cover gasket sealed in wash-down / dusty environments — moisture in junction box can corrode terminals → zero drift
