  • Functional Features:
    • Redundant N+1:​ In BC820, install 2 × SD822 (or 2 × SD823) → if one fails the other supports full load (briefly for SD822 if load >5 A — design should keep load ≤single PSU rating for true N+1; for loads >5 A use 2 × SD823 each ≥½ load)

  • Working Principle:

  • Installation Requirements:
    1. In BC820: install SD82x in left PSU slot first (Slot A) → if redundant, install second in Slot B
    2. Connect plant 24 V DC:

      • PE → SD82x PE terminal

  • Use & Precautions:
    • Redundancy Sizing:​ For true N+1 with 2 × SD822 (5 A each) — keep load ≤5 A (single PSU capacity) so surviving unit can carry full load on partner failure. If load 5–10 A → use 2 × SD823 (10 A each) & keep load ≤10 A (single SD823 capacity) — design margin recommended 20 %.
    • Alarm Relay Wiring:​ Use NO contact in alarm circuit — healthy = relay energized = closed (fail-safe open on fault). Test annually: momentarily unplug one PSU (redundant pair) → alarm should activate; restore → clear.
    • Input Polarity & Fusing:​ Reverse polarity protected but may damage if reversed while powered — double-check +/– before energizing. Use properly sized fuse — under-fuse causes nuisance trip on inrush; over-fuse risks cable/wiring damage on short.
    • Do NOT Parallel Outputs of Two Baseplates:​ Only parallel within same BC820 (diode-OR internal). If need >10 A @24 V for large I/O cluster → use separate PSU (e.g., ABB CP series 24 V DC 20 A DIN PSU) for I/O / field devices; keep SD82x for controller only.
    • Keep Spare:​ PSU electrolytic caps age (~10–12 yr) — if in critical service keep spare SD82x matching type (SD822 vs SD823 — not interchangeable if your load requires 10 A; for <5 A load SD822 can sub for but not vice versa if load >5 A). After replacement verify LEDs & alarm contact operation.
    • Firmware / HW Compat:​ / are passive — no firmware; ensure mechanical keying matches BC810/BC820 generation (all SD82x fit BC810/ — no issue). If very old BC800 (PM510 era) used different PSU (SA801) — NOT interchangeable.
