Description
ABB PHCBRC10000000R
- Technical Specifications (BRC-100/300 typical):
- Processor: 32-bit RISC (BRC-100 early; BRC-300 faster clock / more memory)
- Memory Support: NTMP01 plug-in memory module (SRAM + Flash + battery)
- Scan Time: Configurable 100 ms – several seconds; typical regulatory loop 200–500 ms; fast digital logic 50–100 ms
- I/O Capacity: Up to 1024 analog + 2048 digital points per node (practical limit depends on scan time & program size)
- Communication: C.W. master via backplane to I/O modules; Infi-Net interface via INNIS21 in same rack
- Redundancy: Supports 1:1 hot-standby with automatic switchover (watchdog, state sync)
- Power: 5 V DC from IEMMU21 backplane (typ. 1.5–2 A)
- Indicators: Run (green), Fault (red), Sync (green — on in standby when synced), C.W. Active
- Operating Temp.: 0 °C to +60 °C
- Mounting: Slot 1 (leftmost) of IEMMU21 rack; keyed slot — only BRC or INNIS21 fits Slot 1
- Certifications: CE, UL, cUL, marine (ABS/DNV/LR/BV)
- Functional Features:
- IEC 61131-3 style function block programming (via Control Builder for INFI 92 / Harmony)
- Online change (qualified — add/modify blocks without stopping process if change doesn’t affect I/O scan timing critically)
- Built-in trend (via OIS), alarm processing, SOE collection (with IMFEC12)
- Time sync master/slave via Infi-Net or IRIG-B
- Extensive diagnostic registers readable from OIS / engineering workstation
- Application Scenarios:
- Boiler/BOP control in power plant (with Advant OCS / INFI 92)
- Continuous process unit — reactor temp control, column reflux, furnace firing
- Sectional drive speed master in older paper machine (coordinated via INFI 92 peer blocks)
- Retrofit spare for existing Harmony INFI 92 node — keep cold spare on-site
- Material & Structure / Working Principle / Installation / Precautions:
- Insert BRC-100/300 into Slot 1 of IEMMU21; ensure key matches; seat firmly
- Insert NTMP01 memory module (pre-loaded with application) into BRC before powering
- Install INNIS21 (or INICT13) into Slot 2 for network comms; populate I/O slots 3–10 with IMASI/IMDSO/IMSED etc.
- Power up — controller runs POST; if NTMP01 valid → Run LED goes green; if config mismatch or memory corrupted → Fault LED + error code on OIS
- For redundant pair: install second BRC in same rack (Slot 1A/1B depending on rack — usually side-by-side in dual-slot carrier); connect sync cable; primary boots, standby syncs
- Precautions:
- Before removing a BRC from live redundant rack: confirm standby is healthy & primary — removing active CPU causes switchover (brief process bump) or loss of control if standby not ready
- Always have NTMP01 backup (latest downloaded project) before replacing CPU — new CPU reads config from NTMP01 on boot; if NTMP01 also failed → need to reload from workstation
- Firmware in BRC must match Engineering Workbench version — mismatch prevents download; check compat matrix before ordering spare
- Handle with ESD precautions; do NOT touch gold edge-fingers
