- Used to integrate legacy SPA relay panels into modern SCADA that expects Modbus/DNP3 — avoids ripping & replacing relays
- Configure via PC (ZC400 config tool) — assign IED node addresses (set via DIP on SPA IED or software), map analog values (I, V, P, Q) & digital status/alarm bits to Modbus register map
- In SCADA: poll ZC400as Modbus slave — reads/writes relay bits (ack alarm, change setting group if unlocked)
- Precaution: SPA-bus termination resistor (120 Ω) required at last IED on daisy-chain — ZC400 may have jumper for termination if it is last node; otherwise add external resistor. Keep ZC400 firmware version compatible with SPA IED firmware — older ZC400 may not support newer SPA IED register extensions — check ABBcompatibility note if mixing old/new SPA units.
