Atlas Copco PME-1802-A-CD2

Product Introduction PME-1802-A-CD2 is a pressure transmitter from Atlas Copco of Sweden, a dedicated spare part for screw air compressors. The device converts compressed air pressure into a 4 to 20 mA standard signal directly connected to the compressor controller for closed-loop discharge pressure control. It uses a ceramic piezoresistive sensing element with stainless steel process connection for pressure monitoring in air compressors and industrial pneumatic systems.

Materials and Construction

  • Process connection: Stainless steel
  • Sensing diaphragm: Alumina ceramic
  • Housing: Stainless steel
  • Electronics: FR4 board
  • Cable: Shielded cable
  • Seal: FKM O-ring

Structural Features

  • Cylindrical stainless steel housing with front thread
  • Ceramic diaphragm at front pressure port
  • Rear cable exit
  • Internal bridge and amplifier
  • Waterproof cable gland
  • Compact structure

Working Principle Compressed air pressure acts on the ceramic diaphragm, which deforms and changes diffused piezoresistive strain gauge resistance in a Wheatstone bridge. The amplifier converts the mV bridge signal to a 4 to 20 mA two-wire current sent to the compressor controller. The controller loads/unloads the compressor based on pressure.

Installation Requirements

  • Wrap seal tape on thread and screw into air line
  • Mount away from drainage point
  • Tighten waterproof cable gland for IP65
  • DC24 V stable supply
  • Shielded signal cable
  • Temperature -20 °C to +80 °C
  • Calibrate zero after power-up
  • Mount away from drainage outlet

Precautions

  • Medium must not corrode stainless steel or ceramic
  • Do not exceed range
  • Correct wiring polarity
  • Install isolation valve for hydraulic maintenance
  • Store spares in dry environment
  • Periodically calibrate pressure zero
